Will I enjoy cooking in my caravan or motorhome?
There’s no reason to compromise on meal choices when on a touring holiday, and self-catering is so easy and very enjoyable. It’s far from compulsory though, you may prefer local hostelries, takeaways or a barbecue.
Cooking with gas
If you do decide you want some real home cooking, you’ll be cooking with gas, and maybe have a microwave, too. The usual four ring cooker with oven and separate grill will be just like the one you’re used to at home.
You’ll also have plenty of storage cupboards for pots and pans, tins, herbs and all other store cupboard staples. The wonderful thing about a site near a farm is the fantastic local produce available and most touring vehicles have a fridge-freezer to keep everything fresh.
Your own universe

The great thing about cooking in your caravan is the sense of self-containment. There you are, miles from your troubles, completely independent, looking after yourself in your own universe.
Will I be warm enough?
Modern caravans are very well insulated, so you’ll not be chilly or have to spend a fortune on heating. Sophisticated gas heating systems fitted with blown air fans circulate warm air. Of course, the windows will be double-glazed, too.
Complete control
Sitting there with your self-prepared meal, possibly looking out at a spectacular view of mountains and lakes, or cliffs and sea, you really do feel in complete control of your destiny.
And that’s what it’s all about really. Your choices. Your decisions. Your holiday.
