Caravan or Motorhome

How to decide what's right for your lifestyle and your budget

Things to consider

Caravans

  • Less expensive than motorhomes
  • Most family cars will tow one
  • You can use your tow car to explore while the caravan stays on your pitch
  • You’ll need to find somewhere to store it
  • Towing might not appeal to you

Motorhomes

  • No need to tow
  • No need for an additional vehicle if you have a compact motorhome
  • No need to find additional storage (if you’re using it as your daily car too)
  • You may wish to hire a car for daily excursions so you don't need to 'de-camp'
  • You’ll need another car for everyday use if you have a large motorhome
  • They can be expensive because you’re buying accommodation with a ‘tow car’ ‘built-in’

Your decision

Only you can decide what’s right for you.

Your decision may be based solely on your budget or possibly by the size of your family. It could just be matter of which you’d prefer to drive.

Take a look at some different caravan and motorhome layouts to help you decide.

Visit a dealer

Visit a local dealer and have a look around, to get a good idea of what the inside of a modern leisure vehicle looks like. To search for dealers in your area refer to the The Caravan Club Dealer List

Whatever your preference, there’s bound to be a touring vehicle on the market that will suit your purposes admirably, without costing a fortune.
